2000 Bavaria 42 - Manta
The Bavaria 42 is renowned for its solid German craftsmanship, spacious interior layout, and proven offshore performance—making it a top choice for cruisers seeking both comfort and capability in a manageable size. With a balanced sail plan, generous volume, and a robust hull, the Bavaria 42 is equally suited to ocean crossings or anchoring in remote bays.
Manta, was purchased in Spain by her current owners with a clear dream in mind: to cross the Atlantic and explore the vast Pacific. After sailing her to Denmark, they spent several months preparing her for serious long-distance cruising. During this extensive refit, they carried out numerous upgrades, including brand-new Elstrøm sails, all-new standing rigging, and a comprehensive Raymarine navigation suite.
Designed with liveaboard comfort in mind, Manta features a highly practical and spacious layout. She boasts four staterooms—three double berths and 2 single berths—offering versatile sleeping arrangements for up to eight people. Headroom throughout the interior is 1.95m (6’4”), making the space feel open and comfortable. She is also equipped with two heads and three showers, providing ample convenience for long passages or hosting guests.
To support extended off-grid living, the owners installed a watermaker, a powerful LiFePO₄ battery bank, and a custom stainless steel solar arch. This arch also doubles as a secure handhold from the gangways and enhances cockpit safety with a narrowed aft opening. Additional features include a dive compressor with four complete dive sets, replacement of all through-hulls and seacocks with TruDesign components, and a full suite of modern safety equipment. A high-performance tender with a 30 HP outboard ensures reliable shore access and opportunities for coastal exploration.
Departing Denmark in August 2023, Manta voyaged through Western Europe to Cape Verde, crossed the Atlantic to the Caribbean, transited the Panama Canal, and ultimately arrived in French Polynesia. Throughout this journey, she has consistently proven herself to be a strong, reliable, and exceptionally comfortable liveaboard cruiser.
Now, as the owners prepare to begin a new chapter back home, Manta is offered for sale in French Polynesia. She comes fully outfitted, ocean-tested, and ready to take her next custodians on the adventure of a lifetime. Contact us today for more information.
«When things weren't working out with my previous Yacht Broker, a friend of mine suggested that I contact Yacht Access to sell my Sea Ray. I contacted Dan Paolillo at Yacht Access and there was absolutely no pressure. After our initial conversation Dan followed up with a list of comparable vessels recently sold and a list of similar vessels currently available with asking prices. After looking over the information we decided on an asking price and within 90 days Dan had my yacht under contract. Two weeks later it was sold. Since then we've kept in close touch and will hopefully be closing on my next vessel soon. After no success selling my 48' Sea Ray Sedan Bridge with my previous broker, calling Yacht Access was the best decision I ever made. I would encourage anyone looking to buy or sell to contact these professionals.»
