CONSTRUCTION & KEY FEATURES OF HULL & DECK
HULL
The Jeanneau 54 features a performance-oriented hull designed by Philippe Briand, built using modern vacuum-infused fiberglass construction techniques to ensure strength, rigidity, and reduced weight. The hull is solid fiberglass below the waterline for durability and impact resistance, while the topsides incorporate end-grain balsa coring for stiffness and improved thermal and acoustic insulation.
The structural grid is bonded and laminated directly into the hull, forming an integral part of the boat's architecture to distribute loads from the rig, keel, and deck. The result is a strong, torsion-resistant structure that performs well under sail and handles offshore conditions with confidence. The cast iron keel is securely bolted through reinforced keel stub structures and supported by stainless backing plates.
The hull is finished in high-grade ISO gelcoat and protected with epoxy barrier coat beneath the waterline. Her sleek, chined hull form enhances initial stability and increases interior volume, while the low-profile deck design contributes to reduced windage and clean aesthetics. Overall, the Jeanneau 54’s hull construction reflects a balance of performance, safety, and cruising comfort—hallmarks of the Jeanneau brand.
· 24VDC Tunnel bow thruster with dedicated battery bank
· White gelcoat in pristine condition – Freshly buffed and waxed for the season!
· Teak rubrail with stainless steel striker
DECK
The Jeanneau 54 features an innovative deck layout designed by Franck Darnet and Philippe Briand to maximize comfort, safety, and ease of movement aboard. The deck is constructed using injection-molded fiberglass with a balsa core, ensuring a strong yet lightweight structure that provides excellent rigidity, thermal insulation, and sound dampening. This injection process precisely controls resin distribution, reducing excess weight while maintaining uniform strength throughout the structure.
The deck is securely bonded and through-bolted to the hull with a chemically adhered bulwark-to-hull joint, reinforced with stainless steel fasteners and a mechanical backing system. This results in a watertight and exceptionally strong hull-to-deck connection.
Wide side decks and flush hatches create a clean, obstacle-free surface, enhancing both safety and aesthetics. The teak-covered cockpit seating and swim platform provide a luxurious, non-slip surface underfoot, while the integrated lounging areas forward of the mast offer a comfortable space to relax underway or at anchor. The recessed toerails and strategically placed handholds further contribute to secure movement on deck in all conditions.
Innovative features such as the fold-down transom with integrated swim platform, dual helms, and dedicated sunbeds underscore Jeanneau’s focus on ergonomic design and liveaboard comfort. The deck layout makes line handling efficient and allows for easy short-handed sailing while still accommodating guests with style and safety.

MAST AND RIGGING
TRUE NORTH is equipped with a powerful and efficient 9/10 fractional sloop rig, optimized for easy handling and solid performance under sail. The mast is a tapered, deck-stepped aluminum spar with double aft-swept spreaders. This configuration reduces compression loads and eliminates the need for a backstay, allowing for a larger roach mainsail and improved sail shape.
The standing rigging consists of 1x19 stainless steel wire with through-bolted chainplates for structural integrity and longevity. All shrouds and stays are externally mounted to maximize deck space and enhance ease of movement along the side decks.
Chainplates are bonded into the hull grid and reinforced at load-bearing points, distributing rig tension evenly across the structure. The mast includes integrated wiring conduits and deck-level lighting, with halyards and control lines led aft to the cockpit through recessed deck organizers and rope clutches for safe, single or short-handed operation.

The cockpit layout supports short-handed or single-handed sailing, with all sail controls led aft to a series of rope clutches and self-tailing Harken Rewind winches for ease of sail trimming.
A hallmark of the Jeanneau 54’s design is the dedicated “terrace-style” lounge space, with integrated sunbeds positioned forward of the wheels and cockpit table—an ideal setup for entertaining or unwinding at anchor.
