Complete Refit! Everything was replaced or rebuilt between 2009 and 2017; only the original fiberglass hull and deck remain. Perfect Love is offered in as-is condition, subject to a survey.
The Vagabond 47 was designed by William Garden as a long-keel offshore cruiser and built of heavy, hand-laid fiberglass, a popular method in the 1970s. Perfect Love was built by Blue Water Yacht Builders Limited of Taiwan in 1975. The previous owner purchased the vessel as a derelict in 2008 and brought her to Cincinnati, Ohio, where she was stored on the hard. She was fully stripped and rebuilt, with only the fiberglass hull and deck remaining original. The hull and deck received necessary fiberglass repairs and were reinforced at high-stress points such as chain plates and thru-hulls. The entire hull and deck topsides were sanded down to bare fiberglass. After applying a thick layer of gel coat, she was primed and painted with a two-part epoxy system (Interlux Perfection). Below the waterline, the hull was recoated with five layers of epoxy resin, five coats of barrier paint, and three coats of ablative bottom paint. A new rudder was constructed. The new ash and teak interior was professionally built, surpassing the original in both appearance and quality. New bulkheads, chain plates, engine mounts, and mast compression posts were manufactured and installed. All deck and hull attachments are reinforced with heavy-duty stainless steel backing plates. The engine, shafting, prop, and generator are all new and professionally installed. The fuel tanks are new, made of heavy-duty aluminum, and the potable water tanks are constructed of food-grade stainless steel. The electrical systems for AC and DC, along with fuel and water plumbing, were professionally installed. There is no wood on the exterior of the yacht; all wood-like materials are synthetic, UV-resistant PVC-based products requiring minimal maintenance. The yacht features aluminum masts, Schaefer roller-furling booms, stainless steel standing rigging, and running rigging. The sails (main, mizzen, staysail, genoa, and code zero) were manufactured by Mack Sails of Stuart, Florida. A full set of Raymarine electronics, including a hydraulic autopilot, has been installed. Mast-mounted cellular and Wi-Fi antennas provide internet connectivity to the onboard wireless LAN. s/v Perfect Love was featured in the March/April 2018 edition of Good Old Boat Magazine (page 30). All equipment and systems are fully documented, including complete wiring diagrams (with every wire labeled) and plumbing diagrams (fuel and water).
«Yacht Access found my first Hatteras for me over twenty-five years ago; since then they have helped me buy and sell four more boats – and become great friends. Their service during the sale is great, but their service after the sale they is exceptional – without the knowledge and guidance provided by Yacht Access I would never have had such a pleasurable ownership experience. The staff at DDYS knows everyone in the boat business and helped me find the best service and supply vendors to take care of my boats – I could not have owned five boats without them!»
