The 1979 Morgan 462 Ketch Sailboat is a classic example of robust and versatile cruising design from the late 20th century. Known for its strong build and spacious interior, this model features a sturdy fiberglass hull and a traditional ketch rig that provides excellent balance and ease of handling, particularly in varied wind conditions. The interior layout is designed for extended voyages, offering comfortable accommodations with a well-appointed galley, generous living space, and ample storage. The Morgan 46 is celebrated for its seaworthiness and has remained a popular choice among sailors who appreciate its blend of performance and comfort.
Here is an excerpt from the owner:
"I bought this 1979 boat when it was 18 months old in 1981 and the first year kept it at Toledo Beach Marina in southern Michigan and sailed Lake Erie. Between 1981 and 1989 I sailed Lake Erie, Lake Huron, and the Canadian North channel. In April 1989, I began a circumnavigation via the Panama Canal and the Suez Canal touching a couple dozen countries, arriving back in Michigan in July 1991. Since then I've cruised out of Cheboygan Michigan in Lake Huron.
I've added solar panels in 1984 or so, and doubled up the upper shrouds and added an additional forestay. I spent $25,000 I think in 2016 replacing all the electronics including the auto pilot, radar, depth sounder, entertainment center, and VHF radio. And added the latest Garmin chart plotter. I added a deck washer pump recently and a propane leak detector system. When necessary, I would replace sails and all the canvas work. Over the course of 43 years I have upgraded replaced and maintained everything on the boat."
«When things weren't working out with my previous Yacht Broker, a friend of mine suggested that I contact Yacht Access to sell my Sea Ray. I contacted Dan Paolillo at Yacht Access and there was absolutely no pressure. After our initial conversation Dan followed up with a list of comparable vessels recently sold and a list of similar vessels currently available with asking prices. After looking over the information we decided on an asking price and within 90 days Dan had my yacht under contract. Two weeks later it was sold. Since then we've kept in close touch and will hopefully be closing on my next vessel soon. After no success selling my 48' Sea Ray Sedan Bridge with my previous broker, calling Yacht Access was the best decision I ever made. I would encourage anyone looking to buy or sell to contact these professionals.»
