“Elegance comes first with this very comfortable sailing boat” - Beneteau.com
Tucked away at harbor in beautiful Saint Augustine, Florida, Radio Flyer calls to the a sailor with an eye for sturdy hardware, bulletproof rigging and speedy sailing as much as it does to one in the market for a spacious multi-cabin interior fit for entertaining. Radio Flyer is a thoroughbred example of late 80s pedigree boat building. The model was built at a time known for the best fiberglass work and the heighday of legendary designers. The Idylle 15.5 has luxury in comfort and in bareboat cruising alike; featuring (as a consequence of her wide beam) three private staterooms and a large salon, all while comfortably achieving speeds of up to 8.25kn. Her speed, gracious appointments and resoundingly thick hull speak to the German Frers design as much as heavy construction by Beneteau. Built for blue water, the Beneteau 15.5 Idylle presents a cruising platform both ahead of its time and classic to the age, arguably providing much more in luxury than a modern production staple at a fractional price.

Walkthrough
Radio Flyer makes a unique impression with deep navy blue hulls, a white deck, the name emblazoned in dark red on the stern. Coming aboard into the cockpit across the folding transom and under the shade of a steel framed hardtop, you're greeted with a comfortable layout containing all the essentials. Girded by stainless steel lifelines the teak finishing, and center helm with folding table highlight the space available. Starboard there is a deep storage and equipment lazarette containing: battery and electrical access as well as plentiful storage.
Keeping up the mast is 14ml standing rigging and to manage the sails there is enough fresh rope aboard to rig the ship twice over. The deck is littered with heavy duty equipment from winches, track slides, and more.
Towards the bow is a deep anchor locker containing the boat’s 800 feet of rode and chain, not to mention the 75 pound Rockna main anchor ( there are two more anchors aboard in addition). Just a step back from the anchor locker is a portlight access panel to one of the boat's more surprising features: a fully separate crew quarters! Currently being used to store tools the additional cabin contains three bunks (or shelves) and is fully connected to onboard AC/heat.
Opening the hatch and passing down the companionway, you're greeted by a voluminous and warm interior space. Radio Flyer is replete with mahogany finished teak-work, green leather upholstery on comfortable cushioning, and decorated with a beautiful butterfly window in center; although aged she is a classic example of luxury. To starboard is a fully galley with all the necessary provisions and further on a navigation/radar console (itself with a pair of leather upholstered swivel chairs) featuring a fully operational HAM radio setup .
To port is the dining settee with a large center table. Hidden beneath is the ship’s Perkins 4236 85hp diesel engine. Fully remanufactured by Transatlantic Diesel in 2013 the engine is still kept in pristine visual condition and with updated manifold cooler and alternator.
There are three cabins, each with full beds and high grade marine mattresses. The cabin's private head access doors and while only two of the three heads are left operational by the owner, more can be installed.
