Trawlers Vintage

"Vintage" is a nicely maintained sedan cruiser with a crisp, handsome downeast look. This well-designed Cape Dory 36 offers rugged seagoing performance, excellent accommodation, a spacious layout, and just the right amount of luxury to keep you and your guests happy on the water. This boat is an excellent Great Loop boat with her diesel twin screws, secure side decks, and excellent sight lines.

Her knowledgeable owner had a most fitting description: “Vintage has been the stable long range cruising platform that I wanted when I bought it 10 years ago. My daughter and I have cruised the Northeast every year with extended stays at Block Island on the hook. The accommodations, generator, AC, and large galley make it the perfect platform for comfortable cruising at reasonable speed and efficiency. The systems receive regular maintenance and have performed well.”

Power Boat Guide Description

“Economical to operate and easy on the eye, the Cape Dory 36 Flybridge is a Down East-style convertible whose blend of classic lines and spirited, planning-speed performance still hits the sweet spot with boating traditionalists. She rides on a modified-V hull with a solid fiberglass bottom, and a long, prop-protecting keel. The interior of the Cape Dory 36 is dominated by the handcrafted teak cabinets and trim long identified with this builder. A two-stateroom layout with midlevel galley was standard. Featuring large salon cabin windows make the interior seem bigger than it is. The cockpit is big enough for several anglers and their gear offering a transom door and teak covering boards. Additional features include a teak bow pulpit, teak swim platform, wide side decks, and a compact flybridge with the helm forward. Optional 250hp GM 8.2 diesels cruise at 19–20 knots (about 22 knots top).”

Accommodations

This 1988 Cape Dory Flybridge offers classic styling and design for comfortable and efficient cruising or fishing, or both, with reverse cycle heat / AC and generator, with that super cockpit aft. Equally at home on a longer cruise (Great Loop, anyone?) or can easily and safely get to the canyon – versatility abounds.

The Forward Primary Cabin features a V-berth with filler and cushions. Drawer storage is ample under berths. A large hanging locker is provided as well as shelving above the berths. Overhead and cross ventilation is via two stainless opening ports and a deck hatch.

The starboard Guest Stateroom provides two over & under bunks, storage under lower bunk, a large hanging locker, a small dressing seat and a two stainless opening port windows for ventilation.

To port from the Guest Stateroom is a large, private Head Compartment with a newer Tecma porcelain fresh & saltwater 12-volt electric head, separate shower stall, vanity w/sink and ample storage. New head water pump, shower sump pump and septic lines (all ’25)

Aft of the head is a step-up galley area featuring parquet flooring in a "U" shaped configuration with double stainless sinks. Norcold 120/12-volt refrigerator/freezer, hot/cold pressurized water, upgraded, newer 2 burner electric Kenyon electric stove, Princess by Seaward microwave and storage compartments. Ample natural lighting enters via large above-salon windows. Hot water system, water tanks, freshwater pumps all new in 2015.

The Salon features a large L shaped settee to starboard that converts into a berth, Hi/Low teak table. Large windows provide good lighting and an open feeling throughout the salon. The interior is all teak.

Two deck hatches, six opening stainless ports, large salon windows assure ample light and ventilation throughout all cabins.
