This stunning 2001 Sea Ray 280 Sun Sport is a rare freshwater-only example of one of Sea Ray’s most popular sport cruisers. Powered by twin MerCruiser 350 MAG MPI engines with Bravo 1 drives, this boat offers the perfect combination of reliable performance and sporty handling. With 300 horsepower per engine, it delivers thrilling acceleration, smooth cruising, and the confidence to handle a variety of conditions with ease. The boat’s sleek hull design and bold profile make it a standout wherever it goes. The deep-V hull ensures a comfortable ride, while the spacious cockpit layout is ideal for entertaining or relaxing on the water. Features include wrap-around seating, a wet bar, sun lounge, and an extended swim platform with ladder—perfect for swimming, sunbathing, or water-sports. Below deck, you'll find a well-appointed cabin with a cozy V-berth, an enclosed head, and galley amenities that make overnighting or weekend cruising easy and enjoyable. A full canvas package and cockpit cover are included, offering protection from the elements when needed. This Sea Ray 280 SS has been professionally maintained and stored indoors during the off-season. With no saltwater exposure, it shows beautifully and runs strong. Whether you're looking for an adrenaline-filled ride or a comfortable weekend cruiser, this boat delivers.
POWERBOAT GUIDE DESCRIPTION: Introduced in 1996, the popularity of the Sea Ray 280 Sun Sport derives from her ability to do several things well. A functional cabin makes the 280 a good overnighter, and her generous 9'6" beam provides the cockpit space required to accommodate several guests in comfort. The 280’s big cockpit still leaves enough space below for an expansive U-shaped dinette (with a removable table) as well as an enclosed head with VacuFlush toilet and pullout shower. A wet bar with cooler, glass rack, and trash receptacle is just behind the helm seat, and an electrically operated engine hatch under the U-shaped aft seat lifts to reveal a well-finished engine compartment. The sporty helm console is a plus, and the flip-up bolster seat is essential in any high-speed sport-boat. An extended swim platform and transom shower were standard and a radar arch was a popular option. Among several sterndrive power choices offered with the 280 Bowrider, twin 260hp (or 270hp) MerCruisers deliver a top speed of 45–50 knots, while a single 310 MerCruiser I/O will reach the mid 30s top.
