Description: Embark on a journey through time aboard the exquisite Steam Launch Persephone, a masterpiece of craftsmanship and elegance. This 28-foot Selway Fisher designed open steam launch, meticulously built by Wash Kohnke in 2008, boasts a hull and interior fittings of solid Honduras Mahogany, offering both beauty and durability.

Boiler:

  • Type: 20 hp, water tube, LIFU style boiler
  • Designer: Alex Ritchie
  • Pressure: Tested to 414 PSI, Maximum working pressure 275 PSI, Double regulated to 180 PSI
  • Furnace: Nuway forced air double regulated diesel fuel, powered by two North Star batteries with an inverter providing 110 volts. The fire burns smokeless, ensuring a clean and efficient operation.
  • Construction: Stainless steel boiler housing with ceramic insulation, stainless internal stack (removable), and removable aluminium outer stack.
  • Features: Float auto-regulated water level for the boiler, stainless steel engine pan, water tank, and hot well.

Engine:

  • Type: 15 HP Bellis reproduction compound engine (one of only four in existence worldwide)
  • Specifications: 2 3/8 X 5 1/2 X 5, purchased from Alec Ritchie, completed with a 10 pt Richie Lubricator.

  • Deck: Teak flooring
  • Steering: Fore and aft hydraulic steering stations
  • Gearbox: Overdrive 1 to 1.5 (300 to 450 rpm) by Everett Engineering
