MOJO is hull 51 of the popular German Frers-designed Hylas 54. Considered the benchmark blue-water cruiser, the Queen Long built Hylas Yachts have a storied history of over 30 years of continuous production under three generations of family ownership.

The Hylas 54 is a large couples cruiser, designed to be circumnavigation capable, crewed short handed, but also with the space for guests or two couples full-time cruising. Three generous cabins, a large raised saloon, passageway galley, full navigation station, cutter-rig, and center-cockpit design are only some of the Hylas 54's attributes.

MOJO was completed as the highest specification Hylas 54 built by Queen Long and she was one of the last few constructed before the model was revised into the Hylas 56. MOJO’s owner outfitted the boat for a circumnavigation that would have started this winter, but with a change in plans MOJO is now available immediately. On top of her high shipyard specification, MOJO has also been host to several notable upgrades.

2024 Refit & Upgrades:

• Removal, cleaning, rebedding and much replaced of all 110 pieces of deck hardware plus all new fasteners. Entire deck repainted and new non-skid applied.
• Full Replacement of Standing Rigging including Turnbuckles & StaLoks. Mast fully inspected and upgraded where needed. Lumitec spreader lights blue/white added.
• Custom GMT Composites Carbon-Fiber Hardtop/Dodger installation with 1kW integrated solar panels
• B&G Electronics
• Northern Lights 8kW generator
• 24V Reverse Cycle Air Conditioning (3-zone)
• Anchor Chain (300', 3/8" ACCO G43) with markings

2022 Refit & Upgrades:

• Lithium Ion 24 VOLT System Transformation *Note that the standard Hylas 54 is a 12V battery system, this is a significant upgrade*
• Installed Victron Lithium Ion 24V battery bank, 1,000aH at 24V
• Installed two 2000W Victron Quattro inverters
• Converted most of the boats systems to 24V
• Replaced 12V windlass motor with 24V
• Replaced 12V bow thruster motor with 24V and installed super AGM batteries
• Added solar panels (1kW output) mounted on davits
• Added 24V engine alternator (3kW output at cruising speed)
• Boat is fully inverted and can run all equipment aboard from the batteries
• Replaced Doyle Genoa
• Replaced Ice Maker

Originally named Papa Goose, the original owner, a highly regarded architect, was intimately involved with the builder in pre-production build specifications that included many custom design improvements, additional equipment and systems upgrades. Examples are a custom wheel pedestal console, custom headliners, and raised panel woodwork with ebony inlays throughout including all entry and cabinet doors. Formerly named Patriot, MOJO is also the only Hylas 54 fitted with three heads. The forward head was custom designed to have a private VIP head and a day head, split in the middle with a shower accessible from both heads.
